WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging application with lots of amazing features, but one thing which is really annoying about this app is that it allows anybody with your mobile number to download your WhatsApp display picture just by tapping on it. Previously, there was no official way to make that thing happen, but now latest update for Android can officially allow users to hide their Profile Pictures from people which are not in your contact list. The update fixes the WhatsApp loophole, which affect your privacy. Under this, users will be able to hide:
- Profile Picture,
- Last Seen Time, and
- Status
There are varying levels of privacy level as well under which you can set each option to be visible to everyone, your contact and no one. And below I’m going to show you how to get this update manually, as it’s not available on the Google Playstore yet
1. First of all head over to WhatsApp official website and download WhatApp apk file from there.
2. Now install the application on your device, but make sure to authorize your phone to install application from “Unknown Sources” (you need that, in case you’re not downloading applications from Google Playstore)
3. To enable this you need to go to device Setting> Security check Unknown Sources under Device Administration Sub heading.
4. Now install WhatsApp using the above APK file.
5. Once the application is installed, load up WhatsApp again and then, go to Setting> Account> Privacy, and click on Profile Photo.
6. Here you will get three options:
- Everyone- Anyone can see your profile picture
- My Contacts- Only your contacts will be able to see your profile picture
- Nobody- Only you will be able to see your profile picture
7. You need to choose My Contacts and Nobody, if you want to hide your profile picture from Unknown contacts.
Note: If all your wish to change the setting which suits your privacy.
Congratulation you’ve successfully been able to hide “profile picture” from the people, which are unknown to you.
